squinch (“squinch”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the squinch website, purchase something from us, contact us, or otherwise interact with our website.

We only collect and use personal information where we have a legitimate reason to do so, such as fulfilling an order, communicating with you, improving our website, or, when you have chosen to receive it, sending you news from squinch.

1. Who we are

6. Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to make the website work, remember preferences, understand how visitors use the site and, where applicable, measure the effectiveness of our marketing.

Some cookies are necessary for the website to function, including features relating to shopping baskets, checkout and payment.

We may also use third-party analytics or website services. These services may collect information about how you use the website.

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through our cookie preferences.

7. Who we share information with

We may share personal information with trusted third parties where this is necessary to operate squinch and provide our services. These may include:

  • payment processors;
  • website and ecommerce providers;
  • delivery and postal services;
  • email and mailing-list providers;
  • analytics providers;
  • accountants, professional advisers and other service providers; and
  • government authorities or law-enforcement bodies where we are legally required to do so.

We only share information where there is a legitimate reason to do so.

Some of these providers may process information outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where this happens, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that your information is protected in accordance with applicable data-protection law.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy.

For example, information relating to purchases may need to be kept for accounting, tax, legal and customer-service purposes. Information relating to our mailing list will generally be kept until you unsubscribe or we no longer have a reason to retain it.

Different types of information may therefore be kept for different periods.

9. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law gives you rights including the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;

  • withdraw consent where we are relying on consent; and
  • ask for a copy of your information in a portable format.

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at magnus@squinchmagazine.com.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe that we have not handled your personal information properly.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure.

However, no transmission or storage of information online can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of the squinch website and to purchases made through it. By using the website or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

If you have any questions, please contact us at magnus@squinchmagazine.com

1. About squinch

squinch is an independent literary/architecture magazine.

Throughout these terms, “squinch”, “we”, “us” and “our” refers to squinch, and “you” refers to the person using the website or purchasing a product from us.

2. Our products

We sell magazines and may also sell other products from time to time, including prints, posters, books, objects or other squinch-related items.

We try to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, prices and other information on the website are accurate. However, colours and appearance may vary slightly depending on your device or screen.

Some products may be available only in limited quantities. We reserve the right to limit the quantity of products that can be purchased by an individual customer.

3. Placing an order

When you place an order through the website, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your order.

After you place an order, you should receive an email confirming that we have received it. This does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.

A contract between you and squinch is formed when we confirm that your order has been accepted.

If we cannot fulfil an order, for example because a product is unavailable, we will let you know and refund any payment you have made for that product.

4. Prices and payment

All prices displayed on the website are in pounds sterling (£), unless otherwise stated.

We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect an order that we have already accepted.

Payment must be made through the payment methods offered at checkout.

We use third-party payment providers to process payments. We do not store your full payment-card details ourselves.

5. Delivery

We aim to dispatch orders as soon as reasonably possible.

Delivery times will depend on the destination and the delivery service used. Any delivery estimates provided on the website are estimates rather than guarantees.

You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address. If you provide an incorrect or incomplete address, please contact us as soon as possible.

If an order is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us at magnus@squinchmagazine.com and we will do our best to resolve the problem.

For international orders, you may be responsible for customs duties, import taxes or other charges imposed by the destination country.

6. Returns and cancellations

If you are a consumer in the UK, you generally have the right to cancel an online order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, subject to the exceptions provided by law.

If you wish to cancel an order, please contact us at magnus@squinchmagazine.com

Returned products should be sent back within the applicable period and should be in their original condition, unless the product is faulty or the law provides otherwise.

We will refund eligible cancelled orders within the period required by applicable law. Unless a product is faulty or we have made an error, you may be responsible for the cost of returning an unwanted product.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

7. Faulty or damaged products

We take care to package our products properly, but occasionally things go wrong.

If your product arrives damaged, defective or otherwise not as described, please contact us at magnus@squinchmagazine.com, ideally with your order number and photographs showing the problem.

Where required by law, we will provide an appropriate remedy, which may include a replacement, repair or refund.

8. Intellectual property

All content on the squinch website, including text, photographs, illustrations, graphics, logos, layouts and other material, belongs to squinch or its respective creators and rights holders, unless otherwise stated.

You may view and use the website for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, republish, sell or commercially exploit material from the website or squinch publications without the appropriate permission.

Individual articles, photographs, illustrations and other contributions may be owned by their respective authors, photographers, artists or other rights holders.

9. Using the website

You agree not to misuse the website, interfere with its operation, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or use it for unlawful purposes.

We may suspend or withdraw access to the website where necessary, including for maintenance, security or other operational reasons.

10. Links to other websites

The squinch website may contain links to websites operated by third parties.

These links are provided for convenience or editorial purposes. We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of third-party websites.

11. Our responsibility

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the website is accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free or completely up to date.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to this, squinch will not be responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that arise outside our reasonable control.

12. Events outside our control

We will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. This may include, for example, postal disruption, strikes, natural disasters, government action, technical failures or other significant events beyond our control.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The version that applies to your purchase will be the version in force when your order is accepted.

14. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you will also retain any mandatory rights and protections available to you under the laws of the country in which you live.

15. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms & Conditions, an order, or a product, please contact: magnus@squinchmagazine.com
